Kicking Censorship in the Balls, One Day at a Time

In perhaps one of the more noticeable advances in the fight against censorship, the famous-for-pirating site Pirate Bay released their own browser to combat being blocked in different countries.  The software is bundled with the good old Tor browser which allows for anonymous web browsing and access to all kinds of restricted sites from dark web marketplaces to kiddie porn to the kind of government information that could get a person put on all kinds of watch lists just for accessing.  The Pirate browser doesn't allow for the same kind of anonymity, but still gets through many government restrictions, and is aimed at allowing the public access to all that downloadable content that most governments are banning.  It's a fantastic Fuck You to the idea of censorship, and a nice push forward in spreading the word about proxy servers, VPNs and alternate ways of accessing information.  As the idea of censorship becomes an increasingly big problem with countries like the UK proposing massive bans, and the US looking to revive SOPA (along with countries like Korea, China, and the many others that already allow for only a very restricted internet), it becomes that much more important for the general public to learn ways around it. Sure, it's where assassinations can be bought, and where kiddie porn thrives, but it's also the last frontier for unadulterated news and information at a time when finding such things has become harder and harder. I say, good for any organization that doesn't accept the foolish boundaries put in place whether it's the Tor browser allowing access to everything, the Torch browser getting past geographical restrictions, or the Pirate Browser for promoting the free flow of content. So go Pirate Bay!! For giving censorship a nice old kick to the groin!

Epic Porn Fail!

Okay, so I don't live in the UK, and this ban has no effect on me at all.  Even so, I still find the whole thing to be crazy.  Literally crazy!  Like, what is this guy thinking?  Does he know nothing about how things work?  Anyone who did any research into the issues of child pornography (and I would think that a major politician trying to set policy regarding it would do the legwork) knows that it doesn't operate on regular networks.  It's not like there's 'Google Kiddie Porn'.  So all this would accomplish is stopping guys like me from jerking off to a little legal pornography, while at the same time making sites that would have operated legally have to use the same channels as the dark internet.  It's like he's saying he wants to stop something, while essentially enabling it more...hmm...perhaps that was the goal all along.  It's this kind of bad decision making that makes us have to question the people governing us, and what their motives are.

I don't support anything bad.  I think Tor and Freenet are interesting for what they provide, but I'm just as happy with VPN connections and site unblockers like the torch browser which uses hola to get past geographical restrictions.  Just the fact that this idea has already been integrated into a completely legal chrome-based browser is enough to reason that the days of blocking content are coming to an end.  And though I completely support this when it comes to downloading material, I do see the issue when it comes to illegal activity, and more specifically, the kind that endangers the welfare of others.  That said, banning legal porn is so not the way to do it that this policy can be considered an epic fail.  If it doesn't go through, then Cameron is done for ever having mentioned it.  If it does somehow get through, then he's the guy that spearheaded the cause that strengthened the dark internet.  No matter how you look at it the guy is officially done.  The question is, how much damage will he cause before he's thrown out on his ass?

Here's To Laziness

This isn't new...or awesome...but I found it very funny.  And though it's meant to be a joke (I think), it certainly represents the laziness of America.  Funny enough, I bought one of those fork things for my dad once as a joke gift...

Access Everything!

I use different browsers for different things.  I'm not a one browser kind of guy.  But I'm kinda blown away by the newest feature of the torch browser.  It's got a VPN like extension built in that can get around most any restricted site.  Go on vacation to Europe and still want to watch the NFL? You can!  Studying abroad and don't want to miss episodes of How I Met Your Mother or Family Guy?  Don't have to!  For a browser that no one seems to know about, these torch guys are offering something that otherwise can only be obtained with a VPN connection (and spending some cash).  And it's all free.  Best find of the week!  Try it out for yourself ( http://www.torchbrowser.com), and experience the joy of traveling all over the world, while staying in the privacy of your own home :)

Thief

I'm a thief, I admit it!  I don't wear a black ski mask and lurk in the shadows.  I won't break into your house at night and steal your valuables.  But I am a huge fan of all things free on the internet.  I'm of the mind set that content on the internet is free for everyone, and I make it my goal to pay for as little of it as possible.  Not because I'm cheap, but because whatever outdated world that I hardly remember where content was protected, is a thing of the past, and we all know it.  I respect and pay homage to those who create the content that I love, and if this weren't the internet age I would gladly go out and lay down money for a disc, or cassette, or eight track.  But to me, and clearly most of the developed world, the rules have changed since these times, and the ability to monitor such content is very difficult as is evidenced by all the pirating going on, and the declining revenue of the music industry.  I don't think this kind of thing can be fought, so I happily jump on the bandwagon, and offer my knowledge to anyone interested.  This video is for my Imesh account.  Enjoy!

Best Accidents Ever!

It's funny to think of all the things that might never have been had someone not f*cked up!  So here's to f*cking up, and all the inventiveness that can come from it...

Oh Goggles!

I haven't had the pleasure of trying one of these things out yet, but I can't imagine a better gaming experience.  What better way to feel like you're part of the game than to to have it surrounding you?  Pretty soon these will be a standard part of every gamer's collection.  Oh, and to make it that much better, the company that makes this particular pair of virtual reality glasses just landed a lot of funding, and are planning the first interactive virtual reality porn.  Talk about taking gaming to the next level!
